Origami Coathangers
I got an assignment for school called “Fold,” where we had to create something that was either foldable, or embodied the meaning of “Fold.”
For me, the Japanese art of paper folding ‘Origami,’ is one of the most recognizable ways of folding something. The crane seemed one of the most famous examples of origami to me, and after studying the shape of the crane, I saw that it could be transformed into a hook to hang things on.

I started by folding a few cranes to be able to study the shapes

I figured that I can't fold a singular steel sheet into a crane, so I committed a sin in origami, and took apart the pieces to see if I could stick those together to create the same shape

After some testing and trying, I developed the perfect stencils for the steel.

I cut the pieces out of pieces of steel and then bent them on the fold lines which I had prepared.

Here is the body.

A wing.

The head and neck

And after welding it all together, you get a steel origami crane!
